“He who does not know to which port he sails, for him no wind is the right one.”
– Seneca
As early as the 1990s, Tom Alby worked with electronic sounds and digital technologies during his brief career as a professional musician. When the World Wide Web experienced its breakthrough, he shifted his passion from music to the digital world. He financed his studies by creating websites and technically developing one of the first search engines. In the years that followed, the digital expert – described as a “data freak” by brand eins – drove innovation at companies such as Google, Bertelsmann, and BBDO. In November 2018, he was appointed Chief Digital Transformation Officer at Allianz Trade (then still known as Euler Hermes).
Alongside his doctorate from Humboldt University of Berlin, he has authored several books on technology topics and serves as a lecturer in data science, statistics, and digital analytics at various universities. Tom Alby is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) of the Project Management Institute. Currently, he focuses on the interplay of data and artificial intelligence and its impact on our thinking and our work.
