Privacy Policy — One Line a Day

Last updated: April 6, 2026

Overview

One Line a Day (“the App”) is a personal journaling app developed by Tom Alby. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is stored, and how it is used.

Data Collection

The App does not collect, track, or share any personal data with third parties. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs embedded in the App.

Data Storage

Your journal entries are stored in two places:

  • Locally on your device — Entries are saved as a local file within the App’s private storage on your iPhone or iPad.
  • In your private iCloud account — If iCloud is enabled, entries are synced via Apple’s CloudKit service to your personal iCloud storage. This allows you to access your entries across multiple devices signed in with the same Apple ID.

Only you have access to your data. The developer cannot read, access, or retrieve your journal entries.

Notifications

The App offers an optional daily reminder notification. This notification is triggered locally on your device and does not involve any external server. You can enable or disable this feature at any time in the App’s settings.

Third-Party Services

The App uses Apple iCloud (CloudKit) solely for syncing your data across your own devices. No data is shared with any other third-party service. Apple’s privacy policy applies to iCloud storage: apple.com/legal/privacy

Data Deletion

You can delete individual journal entries at any time within the App. If you delete the App from your device, all locally stored data is removed. To delete your iCloud data, you can manage your iCloud storage through your device’s system settings.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
